The Challenge is partnering with bike groups to hold events in Durham, Raleigh and RTP. We'll be giving away great prizes at each event!

Tuesday, May 13:

  • Lunch & Learn about Cycling Education & Advocacy with Bruce Rosar, Research Triangle Park Headquarters (12 Davis Drive), 11:30 am – 1 pm.

  • Cyclists' After Work Get Together at Serena Restaurant and Bar (5311 S. Miami Blvd.), 5-7 pm
Wednesday, May 14:
  • Cyclists' Happy Hour at the American Tobacco Complex in Durham, 5 pm
Friday, May 16:
  • Bike to Work Breakfast at Mad Hatter's in Durham,
    7-9 am

  • Capitol Area MPO's Capitol Ride at 9 am. The group ride will begin at 9am on the north side of the Bicentennial Mall (across from the Legislative Bldg).  The route will be 1.15 miles long, circle the Capitol Bldg and proceed down Fayetteville St, and will take riders approximately 15 minutes.  Streets will be open to traffic.     Following the ride, there will be a Bike to Work Week Breakfast and Prize Giveaways, sponsored by Triangle Transit and the SmartCommute Challenge, at the bicycle ride meet location.  This is open to all group ride participants.

This listserv provides a way for local planners, municipalities, and related groups to convey information on bicycle and pedestrian issues in the RTP area to interested citizens. It is also intended to be a way for citizens to submit feedback, new suggestions, and problems with existing facilities back to those groups, in order to improve bike and pedestrian facilities and planning in RTP. Raleigh Comprehensive Bicycle Plan
The Raleigh Comprehensive Bicycle Plan is intended to take an in-depth look at bicycling in the Capital City. It will evaluate both roadways and trails to craft a plan that addresses the use of the bicycle for transportation. It will use an advanced bicycle planning methodology and prepare a Bicycle Level of Service evaluation for the entire community. The new Comprehensive Bicycle Plan will also address education, encouragement and enforcement issues.

The Plan is asking for comments from the public; please submit yours!
